Ars Electronica Center
Ars Electronica Center
The Ars Electronica Center is the museum of art, science and technology run by Ars Electronica on the north bank of the Danube in Linz, which the operator calls the Museum of the Future.
Why go
This record is the museum building and its exhibitions, not the Ars Electronica Festival or the wider Ars Electronica organisation. Ars Electronica's history page says the center opened in 1996 as the first Ars Electronica headquarters open all year round, and that the newly expanded center opened in 2009, Linz's year as European Capital of Culture. The museum's own pages say its exhibitions cover topics such as artificial intelligence, neuroscience, robotics, biotechnology and immersive worlds in Deep Space 8K, and that visitors are guided by human tech and info trainers rather than robots or AI audio guides. Its tickets page says discounted tickets for special visitor groups are sold only at the museum's ticket office and asks groups and school classes to book highlight tours three weeks in advance.
