Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro · Ca' d'Oro

The Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro is a state art museum in the Ca' d'Oro, a late-Gothic palace in Venice's Cannaregio district.

Why go

This record is the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti, the museum in the Ca' d'Oro, not the palace as a building. The gallery's site says Baron Giorgio Franchetti gave his collections and the palace to the Italian State in 1916, that the gallery opened to the public in 1927, and that a section of Venetian ceramics has been shown in the adjoining Palazzo Duodo since 1992. The museum belongs to the Ministry of Culture's Direzione regionale Musei nazionali Veneto. A notice on the gallery's site, read on 9 October 2026, says the museum is closed to the public for a complete renovation of its rooms and displays and that reopening is planned for spring 2027, and its online booking page reads 'service temporarily suspended'. Check the gallery's site for its current status before you go.
