Why go

Chao Sam Phraya National Museum is run by the Fine Arts Department, and its unit site gives its address as 108 Mu 2, Pridi Phanomyong Road, Pratu Chai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The museum's history page says it was built to keep and display the Buddha images, votive tablets and gold objects found in 1957 in the crypt of the main prang of Wat Ratchaburana, that it opened officially on 26 December 1961, and that it is named after King Borommarachathirat II (Chao Sam Phraya), who founded that temple. The same page says the main building also shows relics of the Buddha from the crypt of Wat Mahathat, and that the museum displays objects from other sites in Ayutthaya and neighbouring provinces. Its service page asks groups to contact the museum. This record is the museum, not Wat Ratchaburana or Wat Mahathat.
