Ayutthaya

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, usually called Ayutthaya, is a city municipality in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province; the Fine Arts Department describes the old capital founded here in 1350 as centred on a city island ringed by three rivers. XTOUR places the Ayutthaya Historical Park in the city and keeps sites elsewhere in the province, such as Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, as separate places.

Songkran, Loy Krathong and Yi Peng explained

Songkran is Thailand's solar new year, held on fixed days in April; Loy Krathong follows the lunar calendar, so its date moves every year; Yi Peng is the northern lantern tradition that the Tourism Authority of Thailand describes as part of Loy Krathong. This explainer sets out what official Thai sources say about each, how their dates are fixed and announced, and what had not been announced when XTOUR last checked, on 9 October 2026.
