Why go
Datvisjvari — Bear's Cross — is where the drive into Pirikita Khevsureti tops out, and a stop at the summit is how most travellers experience it: alpine flowers, snow on the surrounding peaks, and the switch from the Aragvi side to the Arghuni gorge ahead. For centuries the pass carried trade and contact with the North Caucasus. It is an exposed, weather-driven place; GNTA notes that fog is frequent, especially in the colder months, and it can hide the view entirely. Treat it as part of the Shatili journey rather than a trip of its own.
