Pshav-Khevsureti National Park

ფშავ-ხევსურეთის ეროვნული პარკი

A national park of high Caucasus valleys in Dusheti Municipality — the Asa, Arghuni, Andakistskali and Pshavi Aragvi — on both flanks of the range, with the medieval villages of Shatili and Mutso inside it.

Why go

You travel through this park rather than stop at it: by off-road vehicle, on horseback, or on foot along the hiking and trekking routes that link its valleys. Besides Shatili and Mutso, the villages of Ardoti and Khakhabo keep their medieval stone architecture, and the Anatori tombs lie within the park. Natural landmarks include the Roshka rocks and heart-shaped Tanie lake. Protected wildlife includes East Caucasian tur, bezoar goat, brown bear, lynx and chamois, and the park is part of efforts to conserve the Caucasian leopard. It suits travellers planning a trek or a 4x4 journey into Khevsureti rather than a quick excursion.
