Dolmabahçe Sarayı
The nineteenth-century Ottoman waterfront palace in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, built for Sultan Abdülmecid and run today as a museum-palace by the Presidency's Directorate General of National Palaces (Milli Saraylar) — the largest palace in Türkiye by the operator's own account.

Dolmabahçe Sarayı replaced an earlier wooden palace on the site, the Beşiktaş Sahil Sarayı, and became the residence of six sultans from Abdülmecid onward, plus the last Ottoman caliph, from 1856. Atatürk used it intermittently between 1927 and 1938 and died here; it opened as a museum-palace in 1984. The operator describes the main building as having three functional parts: the Mabeyn-i Hümâyûn (Selamlık, state affairs), the Harem-i Hümâyûn (the sultan's family quarters) and, between them, the ceremonial Muayede Salonu. By the operator's own figures the building has 285 rooms, 44 halls, 68 toilets and 6 hamams across 14,595 m², making it Türkiye's largest palace as a single block; its decoration includes Hereke carpets, Baccarat crystal, and Sèvres and Yıldız porcelain among diplomatic gifts and Western paintings. The operator describes the architecture as combining Western Baroque, Rococo and Neo-classical forms with Ottoman palace tradition and the Turkish-house plan. This record covers the palace visit as the operator tickets it today — Selamlık, Harem and the Painting Museum (Resim Müzesi) together on one ticket — and does not cover the separately run Dolmabahçe Mosque, the Dolmabahçe Clock Museum or the Clock Tower, which the operator lists and prices as distinct locations.
The ticket office ('gişe') opens at 09:00 and the operator's location page states a 17:00 closing time for it (re-read 2026-09-22), while the same page's header widget separately shows a 09:00–17:30 visiting window; which figure governs last entry is still not explained by the operator. Closed Mondays, confirmed both on the operator page and in the National Palaces' visiting-rules regulation — which also states that Dolmabahçe stays open on 10 November (Atatürk commemoration day) even when that date falls on a Monday. According to the same regulation (Article 7), photography and video are not permitted inside the indoor spaces, and pushchairs are not permitted inside the indoor spaces either; outdoor grounds allow ordinary photography without costumes, props or professional equipment. No entrance or ticket-office coordinate is published by the operator, and a search for one today found only a historic gate name (Hazine Kapısı) with no confirmation it is still the public entrance — so none is asserted here; the coordinate below is the grounds centre, not a gate.
The operator publishes no wheelchair-accessibility statement for the Selamlık and Harem interiors, and stairs between floors are not described. Pushchairs are not permitted inside the indoor spaces (National Palaces visiting rules, Article 7); the outdoor grounds are unrestricted for pushchairs. Toilets and baby-care facilities are not stated by the operator.
