The Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters is a preserved wartime command bunker and its surrounding park at Tomigusuku, south-west of Naha on Okinawa Island. According to the operator, the park sits on the Tomigusuku uplands with a view over the East China Sea, was once the site of a beacon fire that announced the arrival of ships from China and Satsuma, and became a battlefield in the last stage of the Second World War when the Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters was established there. Today it is described as a former battlefield park that sends messages of peace. The operator says the park covers 6.7 hectares and has a viewing platform at its highest point.
