Generalife

Generalife

The Generalife is the country palace of the Nasrid rulers and its gardens, next to the Alhambra in Granada and managed with it by the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife.

Why go

The Generalife is the Nasrid rulers' country estate next to the palatine city of the Alhambra in Granada, run with it by the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife. The Patronato's page on the palace dates it to between the 12th and 14th centuries and calls it the palace the Muslim kings used as a place of rest; it describes an entrance through the Court of the Dismount, a residence connected to the Court of the Main Canal (Patio de la Acequia), and gardens around the palace, one of them designed in 1928 by Torres Balbás. The Patronato's visit pages say the general Alhambra ticket includes the gardens, and it also sells a separate gardens ticket for the Generalife gardens and palace, as well as night visits to the gardens. The Alhambra has its own XTOUR record; this record's map point is a point inside the Generalife grounds, not its access gate.
