Why go

Granada Cathedral (Santa Iglesia Catedral Metropolitana de la Encarnación) is the seat of the Archdiocese of Granada, on the Gran Vía de Colón; the Royal Chapel beside it is a separate building with its own XTOUR record. The cathedral's own chronology places the start of works in 1506, the first stone in 1523, Diego de Siloe's involvement from 1528 and the completion of the church in 1704. Its visit page says cultural visits run all year except during worship and other religious celebrations, warns that hours can change without notice and asks visitors to confirm them beforehand. Tickets are sold on Tickets Granada Cristiana, which the cathedral calls the Archdiocese's official ticket site; it also sells the Royal Chapel, the Charterhouse and other Archdiocese monuments and a combined ticket. The cathedral's visiting rules say tourist visits are not allowed inside during liturgical acts and ask for silence, decorous dress and heads uncovered on entering.
