The JEATH War Museum is a museum about the prisoners of war and the building of the Thailand–Burma 'Death Railway', in Ban Tai subdistrict of Mueang Kanchanaburi District, near Wat Chaichumphon Chanasongkhram.
Why go
Kanchanaburi Town Municipality says the museum collects documents, paintings, photographs and objects about the building of the Death Railway in the Second World War, and that its name comes from the initials of Japan, England, Australia and America, Thailand and Holland. It describes a bamboo replica of the prisoners' quarters, photographs and paintings of camp life, and objects prisoners traded with Thai people for food. The page says the temple chose not to build a permanent museum building so that visitors see the form of a wartime camp. This record is the JEATH War Museum, not the World War II Museum near the River Kwai Bridge.
