Why go

Klagenfurt Cathedral (Domkirche Klagenfurt) is the parish church of the Klagenfurt cathedral parish on Lidmanskygasse and, according to the diocese's church page, the cathedral of the Diocese of Gurk since 1787. The same page says it was built between 1581 and 1597 as a Protestant house of prayer and handed to the Jesuits in 1604, that its side bays were turned into chapels early in the 17th century, that the baroque remodelling of the interior in 1660 shapes its appearance, and that it was restored after a fire in 1723. It describes a large west tower and a barrel-vaulted interior with galleries. The cathedral parish publishes its service times on the diocese's site. This record is the cathedral in Klagenfurt, not Gurk Cathedral in the town of Gurk.
