Llandaff Cathedral is the cathedral of the Diocese of Llandaff in the Church in Wales, at Llandaff in Cardiff.

Why go

Llandaff Cathedral's history page says there has been a Christian presence on the site from at least the 6th century, under the first bishops Dyfrig and Teilo, and that the present building dates from the Norman period, around 1120, under bishop Urban. The same page records the Victorian restoration by the architects John Prichard and John Pollard Seddon, the damage done when a German parachute landmine fell on 2 January 1941, and the post-war restoration by George Pace. The cathedral's plan-your-visit page says it is open for visitors but may close at short notice or restrict access because of services and events, and that guided tours can be arranged for groups and schools by enquiry. Its tours page lists works the tour covers, including the Majestas and the Rossetti triptych.
