Why go

St Fagans National Museum of History is run by Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales, which calls it a people's museum exploring history through people's everyday lives. Its What's Here page says the museum stands in the grounds of St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house given to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth in 1948, and that since 1948 over forty original buildings from different periods, among them houses, a farm, a school, a chapel and a Workmen's Institute, have been re-erected in its 100-acre parkland. The museum's visit page says children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, that dogs are welcome in outside areas on a short lead, that ball games, bikes, scooters and wheeled toys are not allowed on site, and that some historic buildings may be closed for work, so check the page before going. This record is the museum and its grounds, not its main building or St Fagans Castle alone; its map point is a point inside the grounds, not an entrance.
