Press releases from the Tourism Authority of Thailand record that the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation closed the bay to visitors from June 2018 for rejuvenation, and that in November 2021 it was expected to reopen on 1 January 2022, with daily visitor numbers controlled, an area designated for swimming, and boats required to use a new jetty at Loh Samah Bay on the opposite side of the island. TAT's July 2023 status list gave a seasonal closure of Maya Bay from 1 August to 30 September. These are dated notices, not the current status; TAT's January 2026 notice says the National Park Office publishes a list of open and closed national park attractions.
