Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is an art museum in the Villahermosa palace at Paseo del Prado 8 in central Madrid.

Why go

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza shows a permanent collection that its homepage describes as almost 1,000 paintings from the thirteenth to the twentieth century, together with the Carmen Thyssen Collection and temporary exhibitions. The museum's history pages say the Villahermosa palace on the Paseo del Prado houses the museum; the palace is its building, not a separate record. Its opening-hours and prices page says the ticket covers the permanent collection, the Carmen Thyssen Collection and the temporary exhibitions on view, and that a timed slot applies only to the ground-floor temporary exhibition, which has limited capacity. The same page offers the Paseo del Arte pass, valid for one visit each to the Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Prado and the Reina Sofía within a year of purchase.
