Why go
The Museu Picasso is a public museum of Pablo Picasso's work on Carrer de Montcada, in the La Ribera neighbourhood of Barcelona's Ciutat Vella district. Barcelona City Council's page on the museum says the collection was established in the Gothic Aguilar palace in 1963 and later spread into the Baró de Castellet, Meca and Finestres palaces and the Casa Mauri, and that it centres on the painter's youthful and formative years. The council's museum guide says the museum was consolidated by a large donation from Picasso in 1970, and that advance ticket reservations are required on its free-entry days. Opening days, hours and booking rules are set by the museum, so check its own website before you go.
