Palais des Nations
Palais des Nations
The Palais des Nations in Geneva's Ariana Park is the building complex of the United Nations Office at Geneva, built for the League of Nations and visited on guided tours.
Why go
This record is the building complex, not the United Nations as an institution, not the Portail des Nations visitor building, and not the Broken Chair on the Place des Nations. The City of Geneva's page says it was built between 1929 and 1936 in Ariana Park and has housed the United Nations Office at Geneva since 1966, and UN Geneva's visit page calls it the former headquarters of the League of Nations. UN Geneva's visit page says it is the official and only website for guided tours, that each person must register for an access badge after booking, that visitors must carry a valid passport (ID cards from the Schengen area are also accepted), and that the entrance is the visitors' entrance at the Pregny Gate, 14 Avenue de la Paix. It also says that, because of ongoing renovations, tour offers are limited and subject to change, that meetings can make some rooms inaccessible without prior notice, and that the Visitors' Service may need to close at short notice.
