Palma Cathedral (La Seu, the Cathedral of Santa Maria) is the Catholic cathedral of Mallorca, built facing the sea in Palma between the 14th and 16th centuries.

Why go

La Seu is the Gothic cathedral of Santa Maria in Palma. The Balearic Islands' official tourism site says it dates back to Jaime I's conquest in 1229, was built between the early 14th and late 16th centuries, and that its present façade is a 19th-century Neo-Gothic work by Joan Baptista Peyronnet that replaced the 16th-century original. The same site says Antoni Gaudí reorganised the central nave and the Royal Chapel between 1904 and 1914, and that Miquel Barceló's work in the chapel of the Holy Sacrament was inaugurated in 2007. It also says the cathedral opens its bell tower and terraces to the public for seasonal tours. This record is the cathedral; the Almudaina palace opposite it is a separate record. The cathedral's own site could not be read, so visiting times, tours and tickets are not recorded here; check its site before you go.
