Why go
Patong Beach (Hat Patong) is the beach of the town of Patong, in Pa Tong subdistrict, Kathu district, on Phuket island. Patong Town Municipality's page describes a white-sand beach nearly 3 km long along a wide, crescent-shaped bay in the central part of the island's west side. The same page says the beach was badly affected by the tsunami of 26 December 2004 and has since been restored, and that it is one of the beaches where a tsunami warning system has been installed, with evacuation drills held from time to time. This record is the beach; the town of Patong is a separate Wikidata item (Q15629547). The map pin is a point on the sand standing for the whole beach.
