Sanssouci Palace
Schloss Sanssouci
Sanssouci Palace is Frederick the Great's summer residence beside the vineyard terraces in Sanssouci Park, Potsdam, run by the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG).
Why go
Sanssouci Palace is the summer residence of Frederick the Great in Potsdam, beside its vineyard terraces. The SPSG, which runs it, says the palace keeps its original 18th-century interior decoration and that the Picture Gallery and the New Chambers also belong to Sanssouci Palace; Frederick's grave is on the highest terrace of the vineyard, where he was reburied in 1991. The SPSG's palace page says visits are bound to fixed admission times, that same-day tickets are sold at the visitor centre at the Historic Windmill, and that because the number of tickets per day is limited it recommends buying them online in advance. This record is the palace; Sanssouci Park and the New Palace are separate records, and the palace is in Potsdam, not Berlin.
