Irrigated rice fields around Sekinchan on Selangor's north-west coast, planted and harvested twice a year.
Sekinchan's paddy fields are in Selangor's north-west coastal region. According to Tourism Selangor, the fields lie east of Federal Route 5 and the fishing village lies to the west. The fields turn inland for about 6 km and cover some 180 square kilometres between Tanjung Karang and Sungai Besar. Rice is harvested twice a year, around May to June and November to December, with sowing in March to April and August to September. Tourism Selangor says that in between the fields are green during sowing and turn golden at harvest. Roads connect the town with a small village in the middle of the fields, so visitors can drive right beside them. Tourism Selangor also describes the fields and their irrigation canals as man-made wetlands.
Tourism Selangor's directions: drive to Kuala Selangor, then about 30 km north on Federal Route 5. The fields are east of the road and the fishing village is to the west. Roads run between the fields, so most visits are by car along them.
Tourism Selangor says the fields are a vast expanse of green during sowing months and turn golden during harvest, around mid-year and at year end.
