Sky Mirror is a stretch of seabed in the Straits of Malacca off Kuala Selangor that rises above the water at low tide. Tourism Selangor describes it as an expansive sand flat that stays exposed for 3 to 4 hours in the morning. A thin film of water on the sand reflects the sky. According to Tourism Selangor, the flat appears only on certain days of the Chinese lunar calendar, around the 1st and 15th of each month, and was publicly introduced as an attraction in February 2016. The operator says it cannot be reached by car, only by boat, and that it has no toilets. Tourism Selangor lists hermit crabs, soldier crabs, bamboo clams, sand dollars and sea anemones among the marine life on the sandbank. The operator asks visitors not to take any marine life away.
Only by boat. The operator's FAQ says the sandbar "can only be reached by boat". Its tour page gives about 30 minutes by boat from the jetty, with departures timed to the tide. The Sky Mirror jetty is on Jalan Sultan Mahmud in Kuala Selangor town. The operator's FAQ says the car park in front of it is free, the jetty has washrooms, and monkeys near the jetty may take belongings. Other boat operators at Pasir Penambang also run trips, so check which jetty your booking uses.
The operator advises sun protection because there is no shade, and asks visitors to use the jetty washroom before boarding because there are none on the sandbar.
The operator says visitors wade through shallow water on the sandbar, and the SkyGate listings state the activity is not suitable for wheelchair users. The operator publishes no step-free boarding route.
