Shdugra Waterfall

შდუგრა · Ushba Waterfall · Mazeri Waterfall

A waterfall of almost 120 metres on a right-bank tributary of the Dolra above Mazeri in Svaneti's Becho valley, also known as the Ushba Waterfall.

Why go

Shdugra drops almost 120 metres, and near its base the spray is heavy enough that GNTA advises bringing a raincoat. The well-marked path from Mazeri crosses fields, enters pine forest and fords a river; GNTA puts the base about three kilometres from the village, with a further three to reach the top of the fall, and the Transcaucasian Trail grades the walk to the falls as easy. Strong walkers can continue to the Ushba glacier viewpoint, which the Transcaucasian Trail describes as short but very steep. GNTA gives spring to autumn as the season.
