Topkapı Sarayı is organised into four parts — Bîrun (service/outer), Dîvân-ı Hümâyun (administration), Enderûn (education/inner court) and the Harem — and is operated by the Presidency's Directorate of National Palaces (Milli Saraylar). Visitors enter through Bâb-ı Hümâyun, a two-storey pavilion-gate in the Byzantine-era walls; the palace has three great gates and five service gates in total. The second courtyard holds the Imperial Council hall (Kubbealtı) and its treasury, the Tower of Justice, the Harem entrance beside the Kubbealtı, the Halberdiers-with-Tresses dormitory and the privy stables. The third courtyard (Enderûn) holds the Audience Chamber, the Enderûn Treasury / Fatih Pavilion, the Privy Chamber housing the Sacred Relics, and the palace school buildings. The palace is named within UNESCO's "Historic Areas of Istanbul" property — as "the 15th century Topkapi Palace" and, under criterion (iv), as a supreme example of an Ottoman palace ensemble — but it is not independently World-Heritage-inscribed; the boundary map for its component area could not be retrieved to confirm containment more precisely. Getting there

Entered through Bâb-ı Hümâyun (Imperial Gate) at Babıhümayun Caddesi No:1, Cankurtaran, Sultanahmet. Ticket office opens 09:00 and closes 17:00 (operator, read 2026-09-22). The operator's own standard public ticket is a COMBINED ticket covering the palace plus the Harem plus Hagia Irene (Aya İrini); no palace-only ticket excluding the Harem is listed on the operator's page.
