Valle dei Templi
The Valley of the Temples is the archaeological area at Agrigento, Sicily, that holds the remains of the ancient Greek city of Akragas and its Doric temples.
Why go
The Valley of the Temples is the archaeological area at Agrigento holding the remains of ancient Akragas; the park's ticket page says it has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1997. It is run by the Parco Archeologico e Paesaggistico della Valle dei Templi, which, according to the Sicilian Region's Visit Sicily page, also looks after other archaeological sites in the Agrigento area; this record is the valley site only. Visit Sicily lists eleven Doric temples among the remains, describes a ticket office by the Temple of Juno and a separate Hardcastle entrance to the Temple of Zeus area, and says the nearby Kolymbetra garden is managed by the FAI. The park's ticket page sells the park ticket online alongside separate audio-guide, group and underground-route options. The map point is the middle of the mapped site, not an entrance.
