Summer heat in the valley is significant, and the combination of a hot car park, a short uphill walk and no water catches people out. In winter the road up to Jvari and the approach to Shio-Mgvime can be icy. Traffic on the main roads around the town moves fast and pedestrian provision outside the centre is limited.
