Göbekli Tepe

The main draw outside the city, on a hill near Örencik village in Haliliye district. According to the excavation team and the Şanlıurfa Governorship, visitors are received at a separate area and reach the site by shuttle or on foot; arrival arrangements were being rebuilt in 2025 and 2026.

Getting there: The Ministry's culture portal lists a municipal bus from the Abide stop in the city centre, three departures a day (10:00, 13:00, 16:00) with returns at 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00. The timetable is undated on the portal and matches a municipal announcement reported in 2019, so confirm current times with the municipality.

Harran

The Ministry lists the Harran Archaeological Site as closed to visits because of the earthquake (muze.gov.tr, 22 September 2026). The historic Harran Ulu Camii, a separate building, was reopened on 3 July 2024 after restoration, according to the Şanlıurfa Governorship.

Karahantepe

A Neolithic site in the Tek Tek Mountains National Park, 55 km from the city according to the Ministry. The Ministry's museum portal showed it as closed on 22 September 2026 without giving a reason.
