Museum Bali

Museum Bali is the state museum of Balinese culture on Jalan Mayor Wisnu in central Denpasar, run as a technical unit (UPTD) of the Bali Provincial Culture Office.

Why go

The Bali Museum is the museum on Jalan Mayor Wisnu facing Puputan Badung square, which the Bali Provincial Culture Office describes as a state museum holding relics of the human past and ethnographic objects that reflect Balinese life and culture. The office runs it as a technical unit (UPTD Museum Bali). Its page says the idea came from W.F.J. Kroon, that a first building, the Gedung Arca, was built in 1910, and that the museum opened to the public in 1932. The page says the walls, courtyards and gates are designed in the style of a Denpasar puri (palace) and that the pavilions represent Bali's regencies, among them Tabanan, Buleleng and Badung. It is not the Bali Shell Museum, a different museum that an OpenStreetMap node wrongly links to this one.
