Boboli Gardens
Giardino di Boboli
The Boboli Gardens are the garden laid out by the Medici behind Palazzo Pitti in Florence, with statues, grottoes and fountains, run by the Gallerie degli Uffizi.
Why go
This record is the garden; Palazzo Pitti, which it adjoins, is a separate record. The Uffizi Galleries' page says the Medici established the garden's layout, that the later Habsburg-Lorraine and Savoy dynasties extended it as far as Porta Romana, and that it holds ancient and Renaissance statues, Buontalenti's grotto, the Fountain of Neptune, the Kaffeehaus and the Lemon House. The same page says the garden can be entered, and left, from Palazzo Pitti, the Annalena entrance on Via Romana, the Forte di Belvedere gate and the Porta Romana gate, and that it may close temporarily or change its opening hours because of weather emergencies. The operator sells a Boboli ticket and a combined Pitti and Boboli ticket, each bought on the day or in advance. The map pin is a point inside the garden, not one of these entrances.
