Eagle Square, locally Dataran Lang, is a public square on the Kuah waterfront beside Kuah Jetty, the main ferry arrival point on Langkawi. LADA calls it the icon of Langkawi. Its centrepiece is a giant eagle statue perched 12 metres above a star-shaped concrete deck and facing the jetty. LADA links the statue to the folk explanation of the island's name: 'helang' (eagle) and 'kawi' (reddish brown). Visitors can walk up to the base of the statue, and LADA describes the square as open to the public almost all the time. It is free to enter.
