Langkawi is an archipelago in the Malaysian state of Kedah that LADA, its development authority, describes as 99 forested tropical islands, with Kuah as the main town on the largest island. LADA says UNESCO recognised the archipelago as a Global Geopark in 2007, with three geoforest parks: Kilim Karst, Machinchang Cambrian and Dayang Bunting Marble. Ferries from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis and Satun in Thailand arrive at Kuah Jetty.
