Leaning Tower of Pisa
Torre di Pisa · Torre pendente
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the bell tower of Pisa Cathedral, standing among the monuments of Piazza del Duomo in Pisa, Tuscany.
Why go
The Leaning Tower is the bell tower of Pisa Cathedral and part of the religious complex of Piazza del Duomo; the Opera della Primaziale Pisana, which sells tickets for the square's monuments, says it was never used to defend the city. This record is the tower only, not the cathedral, the square or the UNESCO property. The Opera's advice page says a Tower ticket is valid only on the day and at the time printed on it, that late arrivals are not admitted or refunded, and that bags must be left at the cloakroom before the visit. The same page says children who will not have turned 8 by the end of the year may not enter, under-18s must be with an adult, and online tickets go on sale 90 days before the visit.
