Mozart's Residence

Mozarts Wohnhaus

Mozart's Residence is the International Mozarteum Foundation's museum in the former Tanzmeisterhaus on Makartplatz in Salzburg, where the Mozart family lived from 1773.

Why go

This record is the museum in the former Tanzmeisterhaus, not the building as such and not Mozart's Birthplace on Getreidegasse. The International Mozarteum Foundation says the house gave the Mozart family an eight-room apartment on the second floor from 1773, that Wolfgang Amadé lived here until the end of 1780, when he left Salzburg for good, and that the house was rebuilt after partial destruction in the Second World War and reopened to the public in 1996. The foundation's page says tickets are sold online or at the museum box office, that a combined ticket with the Birthplace is valid for 48 hours from validation, and that admission does not include a guided tour. It warns that online tickets are sold only through its official webshop and that tickets from third-party providers are not accepted.
