Why go
The Schilthorn is a 2970 m summit above Mürren; this record is the mountain, not the Schilthorn cableway or Piz Gloria, the building on its summit. The operator, Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. of Stechelberg, says the summit was made accessible to the general public in 1967, and that Piz Gloria has a 360-degree revolving restaurant and was the filming location of the James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. Its Piz Gloria page describes views from the summit of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, peaks of the Bernese and Valais Alps, and Lake Thun. The summit is in the municipality of Lauterbrunnen, not Interlaken, which XTOUR treats as a travel base.
