Where to stay in Dilijan

The right neighborhood can matter more than the right hotel. Compare atmosphere, location and who each area suits.

01

Old Dilijan and Sharambeyan Street

The restored historic quarter of nineteenth-century Tavush houses with carved balconies, holding the craft workshops, small museum and the best of the town's restaurants. Compact, atmospheric and the most pleasant place to walk in the evening.

Best for

AtmosphereCraft workshopsWalking to dinnerShort stays

The most characterful base and walkable to everything in town, but limited in capacity and quick to book out in summer. Cobbles and slopes throughout.

02

Modern town centre

The functional part of Dilijan strung along the main road, with shops, banks, the transport stop, and everyday services. Architecturally unremarkable, largely late Soviet.

Best for

PracticalityValueTransport connectionsSupplies before walking

Less charming but cheaper, better connected for onward marshrutkas and closer to shops. A short walk or very short taxi from the historic quarter.

03

Forest periphery and Parz Lake road

Guesthouses, small hotels and resort properties scattered in the woodland around the town and along the road towards Parz Lake. Quiet, green and often with the best views.

Best for

QuietViewsFamilies with a carLonger stays

Effectively requires a car; walking into town from most of these is impractical after dark. Confirm whether meals are available on site before booking somewhere isolated.
