The Yerevan house the Soviet Armenian government gave the composer Aram Khachaturian in 1945, kept unaltered beside a museum wing that displays his piano, manuscripts, awards and personal belongings.

Why go
The decision to turn the house into a museum was taken in 1976, while Khachaturian was alive, and it was founded in 1978. A two-storey building added in the garden holds ten galleries on the upper floor along with a concert hall, a library and a reading room. Music lovers should ask about the sound archive of some 7,000 recordings of his works and of classical repertoire, and about concerts in the hall. It is a short, focused visit, and entirely separate from the Avetik Isahakian house-museum nearby.
