Archaeological Museum of Rhodes
Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Ρόδου
The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is housed in the 15th-century Hospital of the Knights in the medieval town of Rhodes and shows finds from the excavations of the Italian period.
Why go
This record is the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes, not the Knights' hospital building that houses it. Hellenic Heritage, the Ministry of Culture's visitor site, says the hospital was built between 1440 and 1489, begun under Grand Master Jean de Lastic and completed under Pierre d'Aubusson, and that the museum shows finds from the excavations of the Italian period, including objects from Ialysos and Kamiros and sculpture of the Classical and Hellenistic periods. Its official ticket store sells timed-entry tickets for the museum and says they are valid for a single entry on the date and time chosen and are not refundable. The Ministry's Odysseus portal gives the address as Megalou Alexandrou Square, while Hellenic Heritage gives the Street of the Knights.
