Penang Hill, Bukit Bendera in Malay, is a hill resort above George Town run by the Penang Hill Corporation, which describes it as a collection of hills more than 700 metres above sea level covered in century-old rainforest. Most visitors ride the Penang Hill Railway funicular from the Lower Station at the end of Hill Railway Road in Air Itam to the Upper Station. At the top the corporation lists a skywalk and skydeck with views of George Town, colonial-style heritage buildings, food outlets and the Bellevue Hotel. UNESCO lists the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve under its Man and the Biosphere Programme.
The Penang Hill Corporation gives the Lower Station (GPS 5.40811, 100.27724) at the end of Hill Railway Road in Air Itam as the funicular terminus, a short walk from the Penang Hill Multi-Storey Car Park and the Rapid Penang bus 204 stop. The funicular climbs to the Upper Station.
