Why go

Telaga Tujuh, or Seven Wells, is a waterfall on the Machinchang range in north-west Langkawi. Panorama Langkawi, which sells tickets for the site, says it lies within the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park and has two sections. The Lower Pools, reached by about 200 steps, have a 91-metre vertical fall and a large plunge pool. The Upper Pools, reached by 638 steps in about an hour, are the seven linked pools that give the site its name. The operator warns of strong currents at the edge of the upper falls, slippery rocks and bag-snatching monkeys. It also sells guided hikes to Peak 701 from here.

Getting there

The Lower Pools are about 200 steps up and the Upper Pools about 638 steps (roughly an hour's climb), per the operator. The operator says to ask at the ticket counter for a guide if hiking on to Peak 701.

Safety

The operator warns that the natural pool at the edge of the upper falls has strong currents, that rocks may be slippery in the wet season (September to December), and that monkeys snatch bags looking for food.
