Kubang Badak is a tidal river estuary in north-west Langkawi, lined with mangroves. LADA describes it as having high geological diversity and a history of early Thai settlement. LADA has developed it as the Kubang Badak BioGeo Trail, with 13 sites covering human history, culture, geology and biology. One of them is the Kebuk Arang, a charcoal kiln. LADA says one aim is to take pressure off the busier Kilim Karst Geoforest Park. Pulau Jemuruk, at the river mouth, is described by LADA as a remnant islet of the Cambrian Machinchang Formation that has yielded trilobite fossils. Boat trips leave from Kubang Badak Jetty.
