Gyumri after dark
Gyumri's evening life is built on cafes and restaurants rather than bars and clubs, and it is more substantial than any other Armenian city outside Yerevan. The Kumayri district has a genuine cafe and bar culture that fills in the evening with locals rather than visitors, helped by a student population and an active arts scene, and several venues in restored tuff buildings run live music. It is not a late-night city: most places wind down earlier than Yerevan, and the scale is modest. What it offers instead is atmosphere — sitting out on a dark stone street with a drink in a city that very few foreign visitors are in — which is a different and arguably better proposition. Winter moves everything indoors, and the cafes become correspondingly more important.

Vartanants Square and around
The larger, more conventional restaurants and hotel bars near the main square, open reliably and useful when the smaller places in the historic district are closed.
Night safety
Gyumri is comfortable to walk in at night and the city is quiet after dark. The genuine hazard is underfoot rather than social: street lighting in parts of the historic district is poor and the pavements are broken, so a phone torch is worth having. In winter, ice on those same uneven surfaces is the most likely cause of injury during a visit. Taxis are cheap and easily called through a venue or your accommodation.
