Where to stay in Sevan

The right neighborhood can matter more than the right hotel. Compare atmosphere, location and who each area suits.

01

The peninsula and northwestern shore

The developed strip closest to Sevanavank, holding most resort hotels, beach clubs and lakeside restaurants. This is where the summer activity concentrates and where the lake is most usable.

Best for

Swimming and beachesLake viewsShort staysSevanavank at dawn

The obvious base for a summer visit. Busy at weekends in July and August, and noticeably shut down outside those months.

02

Sevan town

The ordinary town set back from the lake, with shops, the transport stop, banks and everyday services but no shoreline and no view. Largely late-Soviet in character.

Best for

ValueTransport connectionsSuppliesOff-season stays

Cheaper and open year-round, but a taxi or a long walk from the water. Practical rather than pleasant.

03

Western and southern shore

A scattered line of guesthouses and small resorts along the road towards Hayravank, Noratus and Gavar, with quieter shoreline and easier access to the khachkar field.

Best for

QuietTravellers with a carCombining Noratus and HayravankAvoiding crowds

Effectively requires a vehicle. Good for a calmer stay and the best position for the southern sights.
