Nightlifein Sevan

A practical introduction to nightlife in Sevan, including nightlife areas, atmosphere, late-night considerations and safety.

Nightlife

Sevan after dark

Sevan's evening life is entirely seasonal and entirely about the shore. In July and August the beach clubs and lakeside restaurants on the northwestern side run late, with music, outdoor tables and a young domestic crowd, and this is a genuine if short-lived scene. Outside those two months it disappears almost completely: shoreline venues close, the town has little beyond a few restaurants, and evenings are quiet. Nobody should come to Sevan for nightlife, but nobody staying on the shore in August should expect early quiet either. The most reliable evening here in any season is a long dinner and the light going off the water, which is genuinely worth staying up for.

Northwestern shore beach clubs

The strip of beach clubs and lakeside restaurants near the peninsula, which run music and late service in July and August and close for the rest of the year. This is the whole of Sevan's summer nightlife.

Sevan town restaurants

A small number of restaurants in the town itself, open year-round and serving into the evening. Ordinary rather than atmospheric, but the reliable option outside high summer.

Night safety

The area is safe and the practical concerns are transport and the lake rather than crime. Taxis are not reliably available late along the shore, so arrange your return before dinner if you are staying away from where you are eating. The most serious risk at Sevan is swimming after drinking: the water is cold enough to cause shock, there are no lifeguards, and this combination is the realistic danger at the lake rather than anything else on this page. The shore also becomes cold quickly after sunset even in August, so bring a layer.
