When to visit Yerevan
Yerevan has a markedly continental climate shaped by its position on a high plain ringed by mountains, and the annual swing is large: roughly minus 7°C to plus 33°C across a typical year, with extremes beyond that in both directions. Summers are hot, dry and very sunny, with July and August routinely reaching 30–35°C and heatwaves pushing above 38°C; in the hottest spells the city can exceed 40°C. This is not merely uncomfortable, it changes how a day should be structured, with sightseeing pushed into the morning and evening. Winters are cold, with January daytime highs close to freezing, overnight temperatures well below it, and snow in the city. Spring is the wettest period, with April and May bringing most of the year's limited rainfall, while summer is the driest season. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit, with May, June, September and October offering the most comfortable combination of temperature and daylight.

July and August are genuinely hot: highs of 30–35°C are normal and heatwaves can push past 38°C, which reshapes how you plan a day rather than simply making it uncomfortable. Winter is cold, with January highs near freezing and snow in the city, but it suits museums, brandy and wine tasting, and the indoor cafe culture. April and May are the wettest months; summer is the driest and sunniest.
