Goris after dark
Goris has no nightlife in any conventional sense and presenting it otherwise would mislead. Evenings consist of a long guesthouse dinner, conversation, a glass of mulberry vodka and an early night before a morning start at Tatev. A small number of restaurants and cafes on and around Mashtots Avenue serve into the evening, and one or two have a bar of sorts, but the town is quiet after dark and most places close early. This is entirely appropriate to what Goris is: a base in a remote mountain region rather than a destination for an evening out. Travellers who want one should plan it in Yerevan.

Guesthouse tables and terraces
Where the evening actually happens for most visitors: a shared dinner, other travellers, the host family and homemade spirit. Better company and better food than anything on the main street.
Night safety
There is very little to be concerned about. The town is quiet and safe to walk at night, with the practical caveats that street lighting is limited outside the central grid and the ground is uneven. The genuine risks relate to the drink rather than the place: homemade mulberry vodka is frequently far stronger than it tastes and its strength is rarely stated, and an early start for Tatev the next morning is easily wrecked. If you are staying out towards Halidzor rather than in town, arrange transport before dinner, as taxis are not reliably available late.
